“New York In Technicolor”
On my way to New York to shoot at the Afropunk Festival this past weekend “Life In Technicolor ii” by Coldplay started playing on my iPod. For everyone that doesn’t know it, music is a big inspiration in my photography…its what sparks my creativity. While sitting on the bus relaxing & grooving to the song I decided to do a special project called “New York In Technicolor”. The sole purpose of my photography is to turn life into art. The photos are somewhat of a movie-like experience as I continuously played “Life In Technicolor” in my head throughout each days journey. Check the photos out on my website. I’ve been a fan of Frank Ocean once he dropped Nostalgia, Ultra. After hearing how awesome it was I eventually went ahead and downloaded “The Lonny Breaux collection”. Truthfully, I think Frank is a pure genius. His song writing skills are amazing, and after hearing him sing “Bad Religion” and hit the high notes I was like you know what. He can REALLY sing his ass off too lol.
A few weeks or so ago I found out that he debuted his CD “channel ORANGE” over seas. I had already heard Pyramids and saw that he had a song with my favorite rapper (Andre 3000) called “Pink Matter”…I just knew that the CD would be epic. While debuting the cd it began to cause a huge stir on his sexuality because…well…instead of saying she or her in”Bad Religion” and “Forrest Gump” he said he and him, and said some pretty questionable stuff. Recently, I check my tumblr account randomly and see a post he put out wih a letter to some dude. All I could say was “oh, so he does like men”. *shrugs shoulders*
When a lot of people found out there were a bunch of mixed feelings. Personally, I love him as an artist…and to be honest, I could care less about his personal life. If thats how he gets down…thats how he gets down. People have to quit being soo judgemental about what stars do…they are people too…Its their life, let them live it and not you…
I was up super late last night and decided to go online to find some new music…and what do you freakin know…Frank put his CD on itunes…and guess what I did…DOWNLOADED THAT SHIT! I listened…after listening the intro and hearing the freakin start up sound to Playstation 1 i was like “this shit is gonna be bananas” lol. I havent stopped listening to it. I really think this will be album of the year. Frank Ocean is amazing.
